Justice, Relief Sought by Survivors of Khmer Rouge (Cambodia news in Khmer) Trauma from the 1970s Khmer Rouge period in Cambodia impacts many survivors in the U.S. Leakhena Nou, a sociology professor at California State University, Long Beach, helps to heal the wounded and assists them to participate in the ongoing U.N.-assisted Cambodian Tribunal for surviving Khmer Rouge leaders. She's coordinating efforts for victims now in the U.S. to file as complainants and civil parties. She has organized recent public events for Cambodian Americans in San Jose, CA; Lowell, MA; and Santa Ana, CA. VOA Khmer's Pin Sisovann reports from Washington DC.

Khmer Rouge Survivors Recall Their Suffering During the Regime (Cambodia news in Khmer) They recalled different stories but all share similar suffering and hardship. "The Khmer Rouge cadres have me pulled a plow but I couldn't pull it as strong as and as well as an ox," Prum Rath told more than 60 participants on April 30, in Long Beach, CA. Another participant, Stephany, said the Khmer Rouge cadre accused her of killing a chicken for food and "I didn't kill a chicken. He tied me up and set me for swarm of ants to bite." 'Art As Witness' Aims to Heal Khmer Rouge Survivors' Trauma (Cambodia news in Khmer)
This is the third 'Art As Witness' event. These events were organized by Dr. Leakhena Nou, executive director of ASRIC (Applied Social Research Institute of Cambodia) and the Cambodian Family Inc, choosing arts such as painting, drawing, singing and dancing to heal these survivors of Khmer Rouge regime. Cambodians in San Jose Discussed With Their Lawyers About Case 002 (Cambodia news in Khmer)
About 50 Cambodian Americans who filed complaints and victims information forms with Khmer Rouge tribunal met their lawyers who brief them new development relating to Case 002.
